Bakoven is a small suburb that is just a few minutes away from Camps Bay in Cape Town. It is also known as the baby sister of Camps Bay, but has its own charming village-like feel. The views from Bakoven beach are absolutely amazing. The name Bakoven is derived from the large rock just off-shore from the beach which looks like a huge oven door. Bakoven is a quiet area with amazing family homes and holiday houses that are situated right on the beach. Bakoven is also close to Camps Bay and Clifton where you will find amazing shops, restaurants and cafes.

Bakoven is also close to the city of Cape Town and the V&A Waterfront. This provide residents with the best of both worlds - a quiet, charming neighbourhood to live in and the ease and excitement of city living close by. The beach is a fairly small area of white sand which is surrounded on either side by the rocks and boulders. Although Bakoven beach is quite small it is a fabulous place for sunbathing and for enjoying the summer sun. The views are breath taking with the Twelve Apostles Mountain in the back and the vast Atlantic Ocean in front of you. Bakoven Beach is also a popular surf spot for with its rocky left reef break; it offers a short ride which can be enjoyed on a large swell.

If you want to spend a lazy day in the sun to work on your tan or have sundowners as the sun sets over the ocean before you, then Bakoven Beach is the ideal place. You can swim in the icy cool water, but take care when there is an ocean swell in the bay. Parking is limited and not always available and it is advisable not to plan your day with only Bakoven Beach in mind.
